Description

AIS has been a multicultural learning environment since 1967. Renowned for our longstanding educational excellence, our programmes focus on nurturing inquisitive minds and instilling a passion for lifelong learning. We challenge, support and empower our students to excel across all academic fields.
Located on the mature parkland of the former Moretus castle in the leafy suburbs north of Antwerp, the Antwerp International School campus features a state-of-the-art gymnasium, a 350-seat theatre, brand new STEM facilities in 2021 and so much more.
AIS offers the curricula of the International Baccalaureate continuum: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme. We take a personalised approach to teaching, and our 7:1 student-teacher ratio allows us to offer tailored learning experiences to all students in accordance with their needs. With an emphasis on holistic education, our students develop into self confident and self determined young adults. There are currently 40 different nationalities at AIS, making our school a culturally rich learning environment.
Our students thrive in this engaging and inclusive learning environment; further to their academic development, we encourage them to explore their talents outside of the academic sphere. AIS students participate in sports tournaments and/or express themselves through visual and performing arts.
AIS had a 97% pass rate for its IB Diploma students in 2020. The average score was 33.
Our MYP students had a 100% pass rate. Both results are significantly above the world average.
Graduating students go on to attend the best universities in the world, and many of our alumni are successful leaders within global companies and organisations. They credit AIS for playing a profound role in shaping their future.
Our upgraded and redesigned STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) facilities will open in 2021. The state of the art space will increase excitement and interest in STEM subjects. It will provide hands-on STEM opportunities, provide early exposure of STEM to our youngest students and encourage STEM participation by girls. It will also emphasize the development of creativity, innovation, analytical thinking and collaboration through STEM studies.

Technology plays an essential role in 21st-century teaching and learning. With increasing access to knowledge and cutting edge software, students at AIS are provided with an environment where they can turn their ideas into reality. Students and teachers have access to a broad range of technology across the campus which fosters an environment of communication, creativity and innovation. Starting in Grade 5 through Secondary School, students utilize a one-to-one, bring your own device policy, which allows students to have the flexibility and convenience of using a single device for school and home. The younger learners in the Primary School are given the chance to use school provided laptops during technology based learning periods.
While students have access to the most up-to-date learning environment, the use of technology is not aimed at replacing the face-to-face interaction that is key to student learning and development. At AIS, we seek a balance between online and face-to-face learning. AIS employs Google Apps for Education to enhance creativity and ManageBac as a curriculum and learning management tool. These platforms provide students with an excellent digital space to manage and enhance their learning while having the flexibility to work and collaborate on physical projects.
